The purpose of this article is to convince you of the importance of marketing in your camgirl project. It will also show you the levers to use to succeed.
What is marketing?
First, let’s try to define what marketing is. You will find several definitions in the literature, more or less complicated, and more or less adapted to a type of industry.
So we’ll go back to etymology. In the word “Marketing” there is the word “market” or “marché” in French.
In a broad sense, the market is the meeting point between supply and demand. We can therefore define marketing as all actions aimed at facilitating the meeting between an offer and the demand for that offer.
Why should a camgirl apply marketing strategies?
All right, but what does this definition have to do with being a camgirl?
Let’s take the example of the biggest cam platform Chaturbate. There are on average about 2000 performers online at any given time, with girls/camgirls being the majority.
Why would a viewer come to see your show rather than one of the other 1999 shows? Because you’re the best, sexiest, most sensual, most… Maybe, but if the potential viewers don’t know that, that’s not what will bring them in. Moreover, are you sure that they are looking for the sexiest, the most sensual camgirl… And if so, is the price of your shows in line with the market? And without questioning your talent, are you really the sexiest and most sensual?
Certainly, I ask more questions than I answer. But now, do you still think you should rely solely on your luck to be spotted? Obviously, camgirls who achieve very honorable scores without any idea of what marketing is, that exists. But if you analyze their career, you’ll see that they have applied marketing notions without necessarily knowing it, in an innate way (promotion on cam platforms, presence on social networks…). For the others, beginners or not, the knowledge of some marketing concepts to make you known, develop your fan base and prosper in this activity is indispensable.
But then how do you do it?
As we’ve seen, marketing is defined as all actions aimed at facilitating the meeting between an offer and the demand for that offer. We must therefore start by defining the demand and the supply before finding the actions to be implemented to make them coincide.
There is no magic recipe but a multitude of methods. The best known is the marketing-mix or the 4P method. It allows you to establish your marketing strategy in an operational way. We define what we sell, how, where, why and all the variables necessary to put on sale a product, or a service in our case of camgirl, in the best market conditions. So to do this, you need to define the 4Ps of your camgirl business:
- Product: this is primarily your shows. You must therefore define their themes: striptease, interactive sex shows, role play(s), themed shows (girl next door, schoolgirl, manga)… It’s up to you to see what you like but even more, what will please the client. Don’t hesitate to test and see what works best. Your offer is not fixed, it can and must evolve over time. You make shows for your customers, it is therefore necessary to know what they expect. In addition to your cam shows, you can also sell videos on dedicated platforms, this is a second product.
- Pricing: you need to establish your pricing policy. Obviously, this is a difficult exercise as a beginner. Look at the prices charged by your closest competitors to get an idea. You can apply an aggressive pricing policy at the beginning to make yourself known. After a few weeks and once your fanbase is created, gradually raise your rates.
- Promotion: This is, in my opinion, the most important vector for a camgirl business. You need to promote yourself to build and retain your fanbase.
- Promotion on your cam platform(s): update your profile, it should be as attractive as possible to your typical customer. Be as engaging as possible on chat and during your shows. Don’t hesitate to participate in the different contests organized by the platform. You may not win the contest, but you will definitely gain visibility.
- Promotion on social networks: today, most people are on social networks. So it is a very good way to find customers. Be careful though, not all of them allow adult content. Instagram and twitter should no longer have any secret for you.
- Promotion on “porn” networks: there are “adult” networks such as sex.com. By definition, users of these platforms are looking for porn content. They are therefore easier to convert to your cam platform. They are “hot prospects”.
- Promotion on your dedicated site: you can create a personal website with the aim of creating a community around your brand.
- Place: in our case, it is the cam platform. There is little latitude on this point other than choosing a good platform. You can read our article on this subject.
I hope this article will give you a first overview of the marketing levers that can be used by any camgirl who wants to succeed. We will detail them little by little in the future. You can find all the marketing topics for camgirl in the marketing section.
