Interview with Laura: student, shy and camgirl

[CamSlutsBlog] Hi Laura, how old are you?

[Laura] I’m 20 years old.

[CamSlutsBlog] What site(s) can we find you on?

[CamSlutsBlog] Since when and why did you become a camgirl?

[Laura] I started shows in October 2019. So that’s very recent and very far away at the same time (CamSlutsBlog edit: interview takes place in March 2020). Very recent because it’s only been 6 months after all, and very far away because I realize how far I’ve come since I started.

In fact, I won’t say that I became a camgirl by chance but almost. You should already know that I’m a pretty naughty girl and have a big libido (well, I don’t know about “normal” but I think about it very often 😉 ). Unfortunately I am a very, but very, shy person which doesn’t make it easy to meet men. These two characteristics, naughty and shy, led me to buy and use a phenomenal number of sex toys. And one day I came across the Lovense Lush which happens to be the most used sextoy by camgirls. Here we go 😉

So out of curiosity, I go wandering around the various cam sites and think why not give it a try? It wasn’t for the “money” aspect but more for the libertine side and above all, I saw it as a therapy to my shyness with men. It’s a bit like overcoming evil with evil but keeping a certain security thanks to the anonymity that the webcam brings. In the same way that shy people are advised to do theatre. So here I am, in total improvisation, in my first cam show!

The financial aspect only came second. Being a student in Paris with my parents helping me as much as they can, I’m obviously far from being armored although there are worse than me. Anyway, the money made with the showcams is welcome! But for me it’s a complementary income to treat myself (outings, clothes, lingerie, holidays…). I love lingerie but it’s expensive when you’ve tasted the “beautiful” brands!

[CamSlutsBlog] Do you manage to make a living from it? Can you give us some figures?

[Laura] As I said before, the goal is absolutely not to make a living out of it but only to buy myself “extras” that are not really necessary.

Really, I think the show that has been the most profitable for the time spent is my first one. And yes, definitely beginner’s luck. I had to stay logged in for 1 hour or 1 hour and 15 minutes max and made close to $200. And that’s just by discovering the cam platform!

For the past 3 months, I’ve been making an average of $400 to $600 a month by logging in once or twice a week. I think I could make a lot more by logging in more often and regularly to build loyalty in my community. This is actually true… Due to the coronavirus I am blocked in my studio. So I increased the frequency of my shows and the income follows. I should finish the month of March with almost 1600$. But it’s cyclical and it’s not my goal. As soon as the lockdown is over, I plan to get back to a more leisurely pace.

[CamSlutsBlog] How do you protect your privacy on sites?

[Laura] Not much! At first I avoided showing my face at shows but that was more out of shyness than anything else. Now I’m completely uninhibited and don’t pay attention to it at all. Obviously, I follow the ground rules, no names, addresses or meeting in person.

But anyway, I don’t think I have a single French “client” so… After that, I’m perfectly bilingual so I didn’t play the “French touch” card because I have the impression that French people aren’t big tippers unlike Americans….

[CamSlutsBlog] Do your relatives know your activity?

[Laura] My family doesn’t know I’m a camgirl. I didn’t tell them out of convenience but I don’t think it would cause an earthquake if they found out.

Only two of my friends know this part of my personality. One of them even did a show with me! Well, I then had some problems because I hadn’t sent proof of her identity + age to the cam site beforehand…

[CamSlutsBlog] What is your legal status?

[Laura] That is a very good question. Wildcard! On a more serious note, I haven’t looked into this yet. But with the confinement helping, I’m going to jump at the chance to get it right.

[CamSlutsBlog] Any advice for beginning camgirls?

[Laura] Definitely don’t go for it! Ba yeah, that way I’ll have less competitors 😉 ! I’m just kidding because I think there’s really room for everyone.

As for advice, I’ve only been a camgirl for 6 months so not necessarily the most relevant to give any. Nevertheless, because of my little experience, I will try to give you the points that I think are the most important:

I’m not sure if I can give you any advice.

• Patience and perseverance. Don’t get discouraged by lack of viewers or exchanges with them. It’s normal and I still have nights where the show is very but then very quiet due to lack of viewers. It’s normal and I think all camgirls experience this. My first show, which I mentioned earlier ($200 in 1h15), was more of a fluke than anything else. On the other hand, it boosted my morale because of the money but also because of my “ego”, my seduction power. As a very shy person, this was a very important point for me. In short, it won’t work every time but tell yourself that it’s normal and don’t give up.
• Observation and listening. As a beginner, it’s normal to be unsure of how or what to do at shows. So observe the camgirls that work well and don’t hesitate to question your viewers.

[CamSlutsBlog] Do you have a presence on social media?

[Laura] As a camgirl no. I have of course a personal account on facebook and also an “anonymous” instagram account on which I post lingerie pictures. But nothing compared to my camgirl activity (it still feels weird to say that^^).

I don’t think I’ll be doing any of that, my status as a little freelance temp camgirl is fine. I don’t need any more or to make myself known.

[CamSlutsBlog] Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

[Laura] At 20 years old, this is the type of question you only prepare before going to a job interview! Quite frankly, no idea.

For now I’m focusing on my studies. In 5 years, I will certainly be married, with two children! No, honestly, I have no idea, I rather see life from day to day.
